NEWS IN ENGLISH – Unemployment was 12.7% in June

São Paulo – As measured by Dieese and Seade surveys, unemployment in June was 12.7%, down from 13.2% in May. The union-linked socio-economic statistical gathering department (Dieese) and the state data analysis system (Seade) run monthly surveys of economically active populations in Salvador, Belo Horizonte, Fortaleza, Porto Alegre, Recife, São Paulo and Brasilia.
According to the latest survey, the June unemployed total in the metropolitan regions studied was 2,795,000, around 100,000 less than in May, and 380,000 less than in June 2009.
The economic segments where the most jobs were created in June were: services, a total of 109,000 jobs; and commerce, 41,000 new jobs.
